LeT bomb-maker Tunda`s judicial custody ends today

The judicial custody of Lashkar-e-Toiba bomb-maker and terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, arrested in a 1997 bomb blast case, ends on Thursday.

New Delhi: The judicial custody of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) bomb-maker and terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, arrested in a 1997 bomb blast case, ends on Thursday.

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma had on October 24 sent Tunda to Tihar Jail for 14 days, after Special Investigation Team of Hyderabad police told the judge that they do not require him for further custodial interrogation. Earlier, Hyderabad police had got Tunda`s custody from Delhi court in connection with a production warrant issued against him by a court in Nampally area of the Andhra Pradesh capital in a 1998 bomb blast case lodged against him and others. In Hyderabad, a case was lodged on July 02, 1998 on a complaint that said ISI activities are going on in order to wage war against the government and to create unrest in India and to cause damage to internal security of India and to Hindus and their properties on a large scale. The LeT terrorist is suspected to be involved in over 40 bombings in the country. An aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, Tunda, 70, was also wanted for suspected involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Tunda was arrested in Uttarakhand`s Banbasa area close to the Nepal border when he was trying to enter India on August 16. (With IANS inputs)
