Patna: Taking on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for taking a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani, Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday described the party patriarch as the ‘Ashoka Stambh’.
Modi, who is the Bihar BJP chief said that Advaniji is like the Ashoka stambh (Iron pillar) made of the iron that never rusts.
The former Bihar deputy chief minister also took potshots at the ruling Janata Dal (United) Government in the state.
"The atmosphere in Bihar is bothering the JD (U). So, they are giving such stupid statements," he said.
Kumar, whose Janata Dal (United) parted ways with the BJP earlier this year, yesterday said that Advani, who was known as the `loh purush` (Iron Man) of the BJP, has now been left to rust.
Slamming at the BJP for destroying anti-Congress mood in the country, Kumar said the JD(U)`s estranged ally will not benefit now from 2014 polls.
The Bihar CM also said that there is no confusion in his mind that BJP is self-obsessed and has gone further away from clinching power.
Modi was on September 13 appointed as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, despite the most senior leader Advani`s opposition.
The announcement came after a meeting of the party`s parliamentary board in Delhi, which unanimously decided to project Modi as the prime ministerial candidate.
