New Delhi: Welcoming the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll schedule by the Election Commission of India, Congress on Wednesday said that it is always ready for the biggest electoral exercise in the world.

Speaking to reporters, Union Minister Kapil Sibal said, “We are ready for elections, have always been ready for elections, the party is ready for last five years.”

Speaking to media separately, Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said that he respected the decision of the Election Commission and that the Congress is completely prepared for the upcoming polls.

"We respect whatever decision has been taken by the Election Commission. If we think there should be some change, we will talk to them, but the tradition is to follow whatever decision has been taken," said Tewari.

"This election will be a clash between two visions; secularism and pluralism represented by the Congress and sectarian communal vision,” Tewari further stated.

Another Congress leader Raj Babbar also welcomed the announcement of poll schedule by the EC and hoped that the elections will be conducted in a peaceful manner.

"It is the decision of the election commission, and I hope that the elections take place in a peaceful manner. We are fully prepared and are confident to win the upcoming elections," said Babbar.
