Lord Rama’s date of birth scientifically calculated

New Delhi: New findings have once again proven the existence of Lord Rama, with his exact date of birth getting a scientific credence.

As per the Institute for Scientific Research on Vedas (I-SERVE), planetarium software has ascertained the birth of Lord Rama as 10th January 5114 BC in Ayodhya. As per the Indian calendar the time of the birth is in-between 12 noon and 1pm, Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month.

According to Zee News exclusive, the institute has also claimed success in substantiating many other ancient events in Indian mythology that supposedly took place before 2000 BC by using the planetarium software.

The planetarium software is also used by NASA and Nehru planetarium to find out the position of various planets and stars in the universe.

The scientist of I-SERVE claimed that they zeroed down on Lord Rama's birth date by studying planetary positions as described by Valmiki in the Ramayana.

The scientists also said that new scientific tools and techniques like planetarium software, computers, space imagery, underwater explorations, and radio carbon dating can clearly validate the existence of characters and events which are described in Ramayana.

It is just not about the date of birth of Lord Rama, scientists have also proofs which can substantiate not only the existence of Lord Rama as described in Ramayana but also of the incident of the clash of Lord Rama and ‘khardushan’ during the 13th year of Rama’s exile.

The date based on planetary positions merely shows that there did exist a time with those particular planetary positions, which significant to the discussion in hand is that it is not too very remote in time. But It itself says nothing more of why in the world, the historicity of the Ramayana is to be taken as true. For the patient ones, a simple thought experiment : If say, Setusamudram or Ram Janmabhoomi were evidence of Rama, can`t Manhattan be a just proof of Spiderman? In the centuries to come, readers will see no difference in respective historicity claims, that is if this Hindutva craze is checked.

1. There is no need to regret anything. History does not change according to ones beliefs or wishes. 2. Please name the Shastra that contains the `solid evidence` (Of what?). Incidently, Ramayana is not a shastra but is termed as Itihasa (History, Skt. meaning - `It happened thus`) 3. What was confirmed by NASA? When? Where? NASA has much better things to do than confirm Indian mythological events. 4. Throwing up words like NASA, BBC are familiar ruses to fool the gullible. 5. Why do we need the certificate (if any) by NASA or any other Western authority. Can`t we do the research ourselves? We have our space agency and eminent historians and scientists as well. 6. Every civilization in the world has its own mythology, believing in it or otherwise is left to individual`s choice. Believing that mythology and history are one and same implies you understand neither mythology nor history. 7. Bringing up the issue of Jesus is simply digressing from the topic. Yes, there may not be any evidence that Jesus existed. Read the books of Christopher Hitchens (God is not Great) or Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion) and also watch various debates - Hitchens vs Tony Blair, Hitchens vs Dinesh D`Souza on the Youtube.8. Finally, I am no Creationist, rather I subcribe to the `Theory of Evolution`. Thanks for reading this patiently, if you have come up to this point.

It is absurd to place the date of birth of Rama some 7000 years ago based on planetary positions on the Zodiac as described in the Valmiki Ramayana. Reason: The Zodiac and its signs as known today originated in Sumeria - Babylonia some 4000 years ago and spread to Greece. The modified astrological systems came to India some 2000 years ago through Greek astronomer named Ptolemy. There is conclusive evidence of this. The first astrology book known to India was called the Yavanjataka. Therefore it is not possible for people who lived 7000 years ago to have kept a record of planetary postions when there was no knowledge of the same. valmilki`s writings must be seen as poetic expressions and not taken lierally and researched. Most authorities agree that the Vedas were composed about 3500-4000 years ago and these comprised of hymns in praise of various natural forces. There were no mention of gods like Rama and Krishna who appeared in Puranas much later.

The Zodiac signs originated in Sumeria - who told you that? Same books which taught you that Aryans came from Europe and invaded India - right? And then you say, ``Conclusive evidence`` - where`s that evidence? Leave aside Ramayan, will come to that in a while. You know, Dwarka has been found in the Arabian sea and dated as well. The astrological descriptions that are there in Mahabharata, date the wat and the time of Krishna to 5230 years ago, and that`s nearly the same time as dated for the city of Dwarka. Now, tell me, if Indians did not know the Zodiac system, how did Dwarka`s age come to be as that of the Mahabharata war described in the literature and determined from Astrological descriptions.

1.Getting emotional over such issues does not get you anywhere. Our civilizations is neither enhanced nor diminised if Aryans came from Europe or Timbactoo or native to India. We have to learn to look at evidence and hard facts without emotion. 2 The `conclusive evidence? ` - well for a start, read these books - Astrology Sense or Nonsense by Biman Basu, published by National Book Trust, New Delhi (Chaper 3), and A History of Sanskrit Literature by A.B.Keith, Publisher Motilal Banarsidass, Delhi (Chapter 27). And if you have more time and inclination, google on this topic (Origins of Astrology) - a wealth in info. is available. 3. The oldest temples in India is not older than 2200 years - reason, during the Vedic period there was no worship of idols- only yajnas and karma kanda were performed. If Rama or Krishna were considered as divine and they are 7000 and 5000 years old, how come no temples were in existence for such a long intervening period? Hindus put up their own gods to counter Buddhist followers who started erecting statues of Buddha and started worshipping the same. Veda Vyasa wrote the 18 Puranas, 18 Upapuranas and the Bhagawatam (of course the great Mahabharata) that propped up a number of divine characters. 5. Finally, I ask you to cite the evidence that says Dwaraka as described in Mahabharata is 5230 years old.

I am no commie (if you maen communist). As regards the authors I quoted, neither Biman Basu nor Keith could be referred as communists by any sttetch of imagination. This clearly shows your empty upper storey. History cannot be created or subverted according to one`s fancy or convenience. Anyway, I have no issues with you, if you are so determined to make yourself a laughing stock on the net.

I cant find where is it mentioned about the zodiac. The position of sun and planets were mentioned in the articles. I think the same is also mentioned in the book ``Rama Setu``. As per scince earth was created some 13 bn yrs ago that they say after big bang theory. So is there any specific point to prove that this 7000 yr old is not history and a story.
