New Delhi: 87-year-old academician Lotika
Sarkar was profound in thanking judges of a tribunal here for
doing justice to her by evicting a Bihar cadre IPS officer who
had allegedly grabbed her house.
"I cannot express my relief at knowing that my house is
mine once more," the former Delhi University professor said in
a statement after meeting the members of the Central Delhi
tribunal, part of the nine tribunals set up by the city
government to address grievances of senior citizens.
"I am very happy and relieved," she told the tribunal
members.
In a major relief to Sarkar, the tribunal had last week
directed Delhi police to evict Bihar cadre senior IPS officer
Nirmal Dhoundial from her house in the national capital.
Police complied with the order and evicted the Dhoundial
family from her property at L1/10 in Hauz Khas Enclave.
The tribunal is now looking into the allegations that the
Dhoundials fraudulently pocketed nearly Rs one crore from the
bank accounts of Sarkar.
The tribunal today recorded statements of Sarkar and
summoned officials of two banks where she has the accounts.
