LS Speaker recognises Sushma as Leader of Opposition

New Delhi: BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was
Monday recognised as the Leader of the Opposition by Lok Sabha
Speaker Meira Kumar.

A notification issued by Lok Sabha Secretary General P D
T Achary said that the recognition by the Speaker was in
terms of provisions of the Salary and Allowances of Leaders of
Opposition in Parliament Act, 1977.

Swaraj, who was Deputy Leader of BJP in the Lower House,
was elevated as the Leader of the Opposition last week in
place of L K Advani, who has been made Chairman of the BJP
Parliamentary Party.
