In a major reshuffle in the IPS cadre, Orissa government shifted about 40 officers while transferring Superintendents of Police of 17 districts, including communally sensitive Kandhamal, officials said Tuesday.

Bhubaneswar: In a major reshuffle in the IPS
cadre, Orissa government shifted about 40 officers while
transferring Superintendents of Police of 17 districts,
including communally sensitive Kandhamal, officials said
Tuesday.

The reshuffle, perhaps the biggest in last four years,
was effected after promotion of at least seven senior IPS
officers to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG).

The reshuffle, perhaps the biggest in last four years,
was effected after promotion of at least seven senior IPS
officers to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG).

Kandhamal SP Praveen Kumar was posted as the DCP, Cuttack
while 1997 batch lady IPS officer Rekha Lohani was made
Additional Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar in place of S
K Nath who was shifted to the CID wing as an IGP.

The other officers who were promoted to the rank of ADG : Pradip Kapoor (HRPC), M Nageswar Rao (OSAP), S S Hansda (State Forensic Science Laboratory), Abhay (Crime Branch) and V Tyagarajan (Chief of Police Training).

S M Narvane was posted as IG (Railway) in place of Pradip Kapoor while Lalit Das had been posted as the IG (Modernisation). DIG Southern Range R P Koche was promoted and posted as the IG, Northern Range while Santosh Bala would be new IG, North-Central range.

Jajpur SP D S Kute was promoted to the post of DIG and posted in-charge of the sensitive central range.

SPs of Puri, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Bhadrak and Deogarh were also reshuffled.
