Mamata to review all political murders if voted to power

If the Trinamool Congress comes to power after the assembly election in West Bengal next year, it will review all political murders in the state and take action, party chief Mamata Banerjee said tonight.

Kolkata: If the Trinamool Congress comes
to power after the assembly election in West Bengal next year,
it will review all political murders in the state and take
action, party chief Mamata Banerjee said tonight.

"I will review all political murders including the
massacre of Morichjhanpi," Banerjee said in an interview to a
local TV channel.

Human rights activists had alleged that a large number
of refugees were killed by CPI(M) cadres between January and
May in 1979 at Morichjhanpi island in the Sundarbans.

After coming to power, Banerjee said, `real` political
prisoners would be released.

Alleging that the CPI(M) was engaged in eliminating
the upcoming leadership of opposition parties to maintain its
supremacy, Banerjee asked people to foil its evil designs.
