Amethi, Uttar Pradesh: A youth was detained by security personal accompanying Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for carrying a revolver while attempting to meet the Gandhi scion.
As per initial reports, the man identified as one Pradip Soni. He wanted to meet Rahul to present a memorandum over some issue. Rahul is on a day-long tour to his constituency and was about to address a gathering when the incident happened.
He was nabbed by Special Protection Group (SPG) men, who form the core of Rahul’s security entourage, moments before he was to come in close proximity of the Congress leader.
He was later handed over to the district police, who are investigating the case further. The revolver has been confiscated but preliminary probe has revealed that it is licensed.
