Ayodhya: The Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday released a man who had yesterday attacked key Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal.

The youth was released after Kejriwal, noted RTI activist, requested the police to release the attacker saying he had nothing against the person.

Speaking to reporters here, Kejriwal said that “if we also resort to violence then what is the difference between us and others. Then we cannot be called as ‘Gandhivadi’.”

"I have no bad feelings towards that man, I don`t know what he had in mind before doing this. But I will say violence is not the way, we should sit and talk," Kejriwal said, referring to Tuesday`s incident when he was attacked and heckled while preparing for a meeting in Lucknow.
“Team Anna supporters will never resort to violence,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal was on Tuesday evening attacked by the youth with a slipper while he was going to attend a programme in Lucknow as part of Team Anna’s anti-graft campaign, nearly a week after the assault on another colleague Prashant Bhushan.

The youth identified as Jitendra Pathak of Jalaun district hurled the slipper on Kejriwal when he was about to reach the dais at Jhulelal park.

He was later caught by volunteers and detained by the police.
