New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar
will be leading a Parliamentary delegation to the Assembly of
the Inter-Parliamentary Union being held in Geneva from
October 4 to 8.
The delegation consists of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman
K. Rahman Khan and MPs S S Ahluwalia, Kirti Azad, Hassan Khan,
Bhavana Gawali Patil and Annu Tandon.
The Assembly`s agenda consists of discussions on
preventing electoral violence and ensuring the smooth
transition of power, management of natural resources,
agricultural production and demographic change and
transparency and accountability in political party funding.
Kumar will be among the lead speakers in the
discussions. The national parliaments of 143 countries are
members of the IPU.
