London: Asking men to keep their "hands off" women, 96-year-old spiritual leader JP Vaswani has said that they should be given the right to education and necessary freedom.
Addressing a packed audience at the Logan Hall here, Vaswani said: "Women have suffered because men have taken over the task of building their destiny. Women have shown that they can be better than men in every competition and they can prove themselves better."
"They (women) must be taught how to live in the right way," Vaswani said.
Noting that `spirituality` is your shakti (strength), he told the gathering that "women are symbol of Shakti and they will help integrate the society and bring about a new civilisation."
He asked men to keep their "hands off" women, saying that right to education and necessary freedom should be given to them.
He also said that the current civilisation is breaking up because of its own weight.
"The new civilisation has to be built and it will be built by women -?a civilisation with harmony and peace," Vaswani said.
Cherie Blair, the wife of former British prime minister Tony Blair, was the chief guest at the lecture by Vaswani who arrived here at the end of a world tour.
India`s High Commissioner to the UK Ranjan Mathai, Pakistan`s High Commissioner to the UK Wajid Samsul Hassan, Lord Khalid Hameed, Lord Raj Loomba, Lord Kamlesh Patel and Kartar Lalvani, Founder Chairman of Vitabiotics were among the prominent persons present on the occasion.
