MLAs constituency develpt fund increased by Rs 5 lakh

The Tamil nadu government today increased by Rs five lakh, the MLAs constituency development fund, taking the sum to Rs 1.75 crore.

Chennai: The Tamil nadu government today
increased by Rs five lakh, the MLAs constituency development
fund, taking the sum to Rs 1.75 crore.

Announcing this in the Assembly, Finance Minister K
Anbazhagan said it was not possible to increase it to Rs 2.5
crore, as demanded by many MLAs, including those from its ally
the Congress.

He also announced increasing the medical allowance for
former MLAs from Rs 4000 to Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi announced that the
cabinet would look into giving land at market rates for MLAs
near Chennai.

He said 50 acres of land would be allotted for this purpose
near the IT Corridor.
