New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs from Bihar and Chhattisgarh at his residence and told them to reach out to people with "full self-confidence" and increase their reach through service and public contact.

"We should go to people with full self-confidence," Modi told the 34 BJP MPs from the two states, briefing them about the initiatives his government has taken concerning their constituencies.

He told the MPs that they should not deviate from their path as the welfare of the people was the most important task, according to a BJP release.

The MPs from Bihar lauded the "proactive" steps taken by the central government to meet the flood situation in the state.

By-elections to 10 assembly seats in Bihar will be held later this month.

Modi had Tuesday met party MPs from Maharashtra and Goa.
