Ahmedabad: Hitting back at Gujarat Chief
Minister Narendra Modi for his anti-UPA tirade, state Congress
on Monday claimed his comments showed nervousness and said he will
have to "bow down" before the people for his deeds.
Claiming that the Congress-led UPA Government at the
Centre was being discriminatory towards Gujarat, the BJP
stalwart, at a state function yesterday, had accused it of
persecuting him through constitutional authorities, and said
he would neither "break down" nor "bow down".
"Yesterday`s programme at the Sardar Patel Stadium was
a state function to celebrate the golden jubilee of Gujarat`s
foundation. But Modi used it as a platform for making
political comments instead of highlighting his Government`s
achievements," state Congress President Arjun Modhvadia told
If Modi wanted to make political speeches, he could
have done it at a BJP function, he said.
"His comment that he won`t bow down shows his fear.
But let me tell you one thing - Modi will have to bow down.
The people of Gujarat will make him bow down," Modhvadia
"Even BJP and Modi`s millionaire industrialist-friends
will have to bow before the people."
Modhvadia alleged that the Modi Government has put
over Rs 1-lakh crore into pockets of these industrialists in
the last three years in form of incentives, including sale of
lands at throwaway prices.
Every youth, farmer, worker, woman in Gujarat has a
share in that money. They will take it back, he stated.
