Bangalore: Taking a swipe at senior BJP
leader LK Advani`s plan for a yatra against corruption, Union Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily Friday alleged his yatras in the past had turned communal inciting "unnecessary violence and chaos."
"Yatras have yielded negative results always. Most of them have turned communal, inciting unnecessary violence and
chaos," Moily told reporters here a day after Advani announced
the plan for the nation-wide yatra.
He said Congress had taken several measures to tackle
corruption and added "we have been far more successful in
dealing with corruption. Holding a yatra will be no good."
Moily rejected BJP`s charge that Congress was behind the
arrest of former Karnataka minister and mining magnate G
Janardhana Reddy by CBI in connection with illegal mining.
He said the Land Acquisition Bill introduced in Parliament
was "pro-farmer".
