Monsoon session extended by two days

The Monsoon Session of Parliament has been extended by two more days and will now conclude on Tuesday.

New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament has been extended by two more days and will now conclude on Tuesday, it was officially announced on Friday.

The session was to end this week but over 40 hours were lost due to disruptions and some legislative business remained pending.

"The Lok Sabha will sit on August 30 and 31 without Question Hour in order to provide sufficient time for completion of essential items of the government business," a statement from the Lok Sabha secretariat said.

The Rajya Sabha had already decided to sit for two more days as several bills, including the crucial civil nuclear liability bill are yet to be passed in the Upper House.

There will no Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha during the two extra days.
