Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that southwest monsoon will reach the shores of Kerala on Tuesday.

The monsoon, according to the department, will be near normal.

Kerala is already experiencing pre-monsoon showers, thunderstorms and lightning.
“There is thunder, lightning plus a few pre-monsoon showers we are getting all over Kerala. We expect that monsoon will break as per the prediction, and as per the tradition, that is by May 31 or latest by next week, we will be getting very good rainfall,” said Dr Kuruvila Varghese, a meteorological department official in Thiruvananthapuram.
