New Delhi: Though the budget for 2010-11 saw
an overall cut in the allocation for central security forces,
funds for women specific programmes in these organisations
have seen an increase.
The highest jump in allocation was in the Central
Industry Security Force (CISF). While in the current fiscal,
the elite force which guards crucial establishments like
Nuclear plants and ISRO among others got Rs 81 lakh for women
specific programmes, the new budget has increased the funds to
Rs 3.02 crore.
The allocation has been done mainly for construction of
family welfare centres at the Recruit Training Centre,
Ananthpur.
Interestingly, the force has seen a drop in its overall
allocation at Rs 2,022.18 crore, which is less by over Rs 200
crore than the current fiscal allocation.
The CRPF is proposed to get Rs 4.64 crore this year for
its various schemes like gender sensitisation, health and
nutritional care as against Rs 3.92 crore this fiscal.
Of the total allocation, Rs 4.03 crore has been earmarked
for women's hostel being built by the force, which has two
mahila battalions (over 2,100 women personnel).
