New Delhi: A group of Rajya Sabha members, including women on Friday demanded death penalty for those convicted of gang-rape and raping minors and said the trial should concluded on fast-track basis within a month`s time.
In a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rajya Sabha members including Mohsina Kidwai, Ambika Soni, Renuka Choudhury, Prabha Thakur, S Nachiyappan and Ashk Ali Tak said the government should consider their view while finalising the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill which is likely to come up before Cabinet next week.
"Such inhuman acts will come down only if death is the only penalty for such people," the memorandum said.

They said the trial of people accused of gang-rape and raping minors should be concluded in a month`s time so that those involved in such crimes should be afraid of stringent laws.
