MPs stage protest against price rise in Parliament House

Members of the 13-party opposition grouping, including the Left, today staged a sit-in inside Parliament House to protest rising prices of essential commodities.

New Delhi: Members of the 13-party
opposition grouping, including the Left, today staged a sit-in
inside Parliament House to protest rising prices of essential
commodities.

Before the Houses assembled at 1100 hours, RJD supremo
Lalu Prasad and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav sat in front of
the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament complex to register
their protest.

They later joined the members belonging to the CPM,
CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc, AIADMK, BJD, TDP and other parties,
who were protesting on the same issue at the main gate of
Parliament House.

The protestors raised slogans against the government`s
failure to check the spiralling prices.

Among those present were Sitaram Yechury and Brinda
Karat (CPI-M), Gurudas Dasgupta, D Raja (CPI), M Thambidurai,
V Maithreyan (AIADMK) and N Nageswara Rao (TDP).
