New Delhi: Already facing flak for his pre-election `tea vendor` remark, staunch Congressman Mani Shankar Aiyar on Wednesday said that women power can push Prime Minister Narendra Modi back to Gujarat, right up to the sea.
Aiyar, while addressing Congress women workers` meet, said that if his party can unite all the women who have proven that they can work for the public then Modi will be forced to return to Gandhinagar and later can be pushed to sea.
“I`ll congratulate the women if they can push Modi to sea in Gujarat,” said Aiyar.
As expected, Aiyar`s remark did not go down well with the BJP. The party`s national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that it was because of Aiyar that the Congress party is drowning in the sea.
Aiyar, who had openly proclaimed that Modi will never become PM, had said during the General Elections that the former can distribute tea at the conclave organised by the Congress.
“In this 21st century Modi can never become PM. However, if he wants we can arrange a place here for him to distribute tea,” Aiyar was quoted saying earlier.
In response to his remarks, the BJP launched a series of "Chai Pe Charcha" wherein the party leaders held discussions with various sections of the society.
