New Delhi: Even as celebrations broke out at party headquarters here after a magistrate court rejected Zakia Jafri`s plea against SIT`s closure report giving clean chit to Narendra Modi in 2002 Gujarat riots, the BJP on Thursday hit out at the Congress for using investigative agencies to fight its battles.

Addressing the press after the verdict, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said, “Truth always holds together and falsehood falls apart.”

He said that all allegations against the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi were politically motivated.
He also said that as far as the 2002 Gujarat riots were concerned, cases were filed and arrests were made. He added that the SIT had found no evidence of collusion by the state department in the post-Godhra riots. Jaitley pointed out that the SIT was complemented by the Supreme Court for the work that they had done.

The BJP leader hit out at the Congress for misusing investigating agencies for targeting their prime ministerial candidate for 2014 General Elections.

“In all these struggle, Modi has emerged stronger. More than political, I think this is a moral victory for Modi and my party,” he maintained.

“We all feel strongly for the victims but falsehood cannot be substitute for truth,” he reiterated, adding, “I repeat that the Congress party cannot fight Modi politically, so they use investigative agencies to target him.”

At the same time Jaitley questioned the kind of investigation that was done in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and how many people have been prosecuted for the same till now.
Earlier, Jaitley had written on the micro-blogging site Twitter - “Congress party and its sponsored NGOs are unable to fight Narendra Modi politically. They used falsehood in court against him but failed.”

He had also written - “Truth has prevailed. The conspiracy and falsehood to implicate Shri Narendra Modi in an offence stands exposed.”

Jaitley had further posted - “Modi goes into the 2014 campaign untainted by propaganda. The verdict has proved that propaganda can never be a substitute for truth. Popular sanction for Shri Narendra Modi has been buttressed by the judicial verdict which has accepted his exoneration by SIT.”

Another BJP leader Prakash Javdekar wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter after the verdict by a magistrate`s court- “Congress prosecuted Natrendra Modi for 12 years based on lies and propaganda. It`s lie falls flat. Now people will teach a lesson to Congress.”
