New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said on Monday that Narendra Modi`s swearing-in as India`s 15th Prime Minister was a milestone in India`s journey towards progress, development and becoming a superpower.

Raje posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter - This historic day will be forever remembered as a milestone in India`s journey towards progress, development and becoming a superpower.

Modi was today sworn in Prime Minister at the head of a 45-member coalition government after the elections threw the first government with absolute majority in 30 years.

63-year-old Modi, the first leader to get a landslide majority for BJP on its own, became the 15th prime minister in a virtual `coronation` ceremony in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan before a 3000-strong gathering, the largest audience at the swearing in a of new government.

Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharti, Maneka Gandhi, Ananth Kumar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smriti Irani and Harsh Vardhan were among those who were sworn in as Cabinet ministers.

Dignitaries from politics, industry, cinema and religion, capped by leaders of SAARC nations including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, watched Modi take the oath of office and secrecy in Hindi.
The BJP won a massive mandate in 2014 Lok Sabha polls bagging 282 seats. It won 335 seats along with its allies.

The Congress was decimated ending with only 44 seats.

Modi was BJP`s prime ministerial candidate.
