New Delhi: The country fondly remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 27th death anniversary on Monday with President Pratibha Patil leading the nation in paying rich tributes to the departed leader.

Patil paid floral tributes at Shakti Sthal, the memorial of Gandhi, here this morning.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were also present on the occasion.

Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna, Union Ministers Vilasrao Deshmukh, Kamal Nath, KV Thomas, N Narayana Swamy and Krishna Tirath and senior Congress leaders Motilal Vohra, Manishankar Aiyar were also present.

Devotional songs were played at the venue as the dignitaries sat at Shakti Sthal after paying tributes to the late leader. A speech by Indira Gandhi was also played on the occasion.

The former prime minister was assassinated by her bodyguards on October 31, 1984, the same year when she had launched 'Operation Blue Star' to crush secessionist movement in Punjab and sent troops into the Golden Temple of Amritsar.

Indira Gandhi wasn`t Iron lady but a cruel lady who killed thousands of innocent persons by attacking the Golden Temple. She had planned this army attack couple of years before the actual attack in 1984 when conditions in Punjab weren`t bad that it deserved army action. According to Lt.Gen. Sinha the army had started training and planning to attack the Golden Temple 16 monthe before the actual attack. It all prooves that Indira Gandhi had planned to attack Golden Temple and kill thousands of innocent worshippers in there for political purposes. Such a cruel Indira Gandhi doesn`t desrve national homage and her memorial should be called Cruelty Sthal and not the Shakti Sthal.

Because of Guru Gobind Singh ji we Indians are alive with dignity, otherwise everyone was converted into Muslim religion. And I salute to the person who killed Indira Gandhi. She deserves this punishment beause she has done such a shamefull job to ute operation blue star on Takhat Sachkhand shri Harmandir Sahi Amritsar. Indian and a true Sikh of Waheguru.
