ND Tiwari moves SC against HC order on paternity suit

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former
Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari today moved the Supreme
Court challenging the Delhi High Court`s order which had
dismissed his plea and decided to adjudicate a paternity suit
filed by a man claiming him to be his biological son.

Rohit Shekhar, grandson of a former union minister, had
filed the suit claiming he was born out of a relationship
between his mother Ujjwala Sharma and Tiwari, a charge denied
by the 84-year-old Congress leader.

Shekhar, who has filed a caveat in the apex court, said
he got information from Tiwari`s counsel that the appeal has
been filed against the High Court`s March 17 order.

In a setback to Tiwari, the High Court had dismissed his
plea and decided to adjudicate the case filed against him.

The division bench of the High court, which earlier
hinted that Tiwari might have to undergo DNA test to decide
the issue, had set aside a single bench order which had
dismissed the paternity suit filed by Sekhar on the ground
that the suit was time barred and not maintainable.

Meanwhile, the High Court is likely to take up the
petition of Shekhar tomorrow.
