New Delhi: Finding faults with the NDA government`s move to hike LPG prices by Rs 5 due to spurt in crude oil price in international market, the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday said that the decision will be unfortunate and shouldn`t be implemented. Swamy, who is known for speaking his mind, told ANI, “It will be unfortunate if they`ll increase price of gas. Someone will definitely file a PIL. The Modi-led government shouldn`t agree to this decision.” The former Member of Parliament, Swamy, also raised doubts on government`s decision on raising Rail fare. Although he called government`s reasoning to raise fare a valid argument, he also said that it should have looked for alternative means to raise funds. Besides Swamy, other BJP and its allies MPs have also criticised the hike in Rail fare. Shiv Sena MPs had met Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda to press for a roll back. Crude oil prices have shot up to a nine-month high of over USD 115 per barrel. Since India imports 79 percent its oil and subsidies fuel, higher oil prices are particularly painful for Asia`s third-largest economy. During UPA regime, Subramanian Swamy had slammed the government for its ineffective strategies to curb inflation.
