Delhi: Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday stressed the need for change in the perception about bureaucracy, saying officers should give people the confidence that the government was responsive to their needs and was concerned about their problems.
"Officials need to work with compassion, conviction and with a positive mindset so as to facilitate the needs of the people. There would be complete freedom for doing the work," he said.
"It was necessary for the officers to give people the confidence that the government was responsive to their needs and was concerned about their problems," he said on the sidelines of a self-help talk by motivational speaker Shiv Khera, organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and attended by bureaucrats and senior officials of the ministry.
The Minister of the State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that two way dialogue between people and government was the process of administrative reforms.
"This would establish a roadmap and participation of people for two-way communication. People`s participation was necessary for creating a conducive environment in which institutional development could take place. New mantras and innovation always infused a fresh spirit in the governance model and related practices," he said.
