Patil, held on charges of murder of Congress leader Pawanraje
Nimbalkar, was on Saturday remanded to judicial custody till July 4.
Patil's lawyer, Bhushan Mahadik, said the NCP leader is
likely to move Alibag sessions court for bail next week.
Patil, also accused in the murder of his driver Samad
Kazi, was produced before Magistrate Mangala Mote in Panvel
court.
Patil will be confined to Taloja jail in Panvel, CBI
sources said.
For security reasons, media was not allowed inside the
court premises.
Supporters of Patil had gathered outside the court and
they were not allowed to go inside for security reasons.
When Patil was taken away from the court after his
remand, he waved at his supporters.
Patil was arrested on June 6 for his alleged role in the
dual murder and was in police custody since then.
CBI has alleged that Patil had ordered the killing of his
cousin and business rival Pawanraje Nimbalkar as the latter
had exposed him on corruption issues pertaining to a
cooperative sugar factory.
CBI counsel Ejaz Khan said investigations were on. Also,
incriminating material recovered from Patil's house have been
sent for forensic test and reports are awaited, he said.
