Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh for scripting a landslide victory in the
Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
Kumar also greeted Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) leader and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for winning a mandate to rule the state for a second successive term.
Talking to reporters here, Kumar said the SP supremo and his son deserved kudos for attaining a clear majority in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
The SAD-BJP coalition has bucked the trend of Punjab never returning a party to power for a second consecutive term and secured a comfortable victory, he said.
Kumar`s party JD(U) drew a blank in Uttar Pradesh. He had himself campaigned for the candidates.
