New Delhi: Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said there is currently no cause for security alarm in
the national capital in view of the preparations for the
Independence Day but Assam has been alerted to increase vigil.

"Assam has been put on alert because July 27 was
observed as a day by some of the groups (protest day by ULFA).
Therefore, Assam is put on alert as far as Independence day is
concerned," Chidambaram told reporters here when asked if
there was any input about possible attempts to disrupt August
15 celebrations in the country.
"Every year, we do increase vigilance in the run up to
the Independence day. Let us see..there is still time ...as
and when we get intelligence, we take a decision. But there is
no cause of alarm as far Delhi is concerned," he said.
