Malappuram: Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia will not face problems for the next two months in the wake of implementation of new labour policy Nitaqat in the Gulf country, Union Minister E Ahamed has said.

"There will not be problems for Indians for the next two months. Saudi authorities have given us assurance in this regard," the Minister of State for External Affairs, who arrived here last night, told reporters.

The minister said the issue of expatriates was expected to be settled through discussions before June.

Ahamed said the Centre would take up next week the issue of a comprehensive compensation package for those returning from Saudi Arabia.

The new labour policy, Nitaqat, is being implemented in Saudi Arabia as part of localisation of jobs in the private sector.
