New Delhi: In further trouble for Buta
Singh`s son Sarobjit, arrested in an alleged corruption case,
Delhi Police today said it has no records about the three
firearms recovered from the accused`s residence here.
"We are not able to trace in our records anything
about the firearms recovered," Delhi Police Commissioner Y S
Dadwal told reporters here.
A case under arms Act was registered against Sarobjit,
who was arrested by CBI last Friday for allegedly demanding a
bribe of Rs one core from a Nashik-based contractor for
settling an atrocities case against him in his favour.
The atrocities case was before the National
Commission for Scheduled Castes, whose chairman is Buta Singh.
The CBI had recovered three unlicensed fire arms and
few live cartridges from Sarobjit`s house on Saturday
A senior Delhi Police official said even if someone
had got a license for keeping a firearm from one state and if
he takes it to some other place, he has to get endorsement
from police in the concerned place.
"We don`t know whether the recovered weapons had a
license. Even if he had license, Sarobjit did not obtain an
endorsement from Delhi Police`s licensing branch for keeping
it in his Delhi residence," the official added.
