Noisy scenes in RS over Rudy`s comments against Tirtiya

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Wednesday witnessed noisy
scenes during Question Hour when Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP)
made some comments about a member, prompting the treasury
benches to seek an apology from him.

Trouble erupted when Rudy said the written reply given by
Home Minister P Chidambaram to a question whether some North
East insurgent outfits are getting aid from China, was
unsatisfactory. The main question was asked by Congress member
Sushila Tiriya.

Rudy said the minister has not given a clear reply and
made some remarks about the main questioner.

This was strongly objected to by Congress members like
Viplove Thakur, Jayanthi Natarajan and Prabha Thakur and even
CPI(M) member Brinda Karat.

Though Rudy said he was withdrawing his comments, other
Congress members demanded an apology from him.

BJP members got up to counter their Congress colleagues by
pointing out that he has withdrawn his remark.

Even Chairman Hamid Ansari said Rudy has withdrawn his
statement.
When Tiriya sought protest, she was stopped by Natarajan.

As the din continued, Ansari announced that the Question
Hour was over.
