New Delhi: With the summer season setting in, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that temperature will continue to rise in the days to come and heat wave will grip parts of North India.
"The temperatures have gone up to three degrees above normal in most regions. Uttar Pradesh is right now the hottest in North India. Within a week East UP is likely to experience heat wave," IMD official M Duraiswamy was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
The Met department further informed that Rajasthan has been the hottest this season, with Churu recording a maximum of 45 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the national capital also recorded 44 degrees Celsius on May 5.
There will be no respite for the common people as the temperature is expected to rise further in the days to come, the Met department said.
The Met officials said that this is normal for summer with temperatures in Delhi to hover between 41 and 42 degrees Celsius.
Uttar Pradesh is also facing the heat with the likelihood of a heat wave in the coming five to six days.
Allahabad recorded temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius which is the maximum. The Met department said that this is a few notches above normal but not yet a heat wave.
