Sagar: Contrary to police’s claim of 63 explosive-laden trucks missing in Madhya Pradesh, reports Fiday claimed that 163 trucks, which were on their way from Rajasthan to state’ Sagar and Ashok Nagar districts have gone missing.

After sudden disappearance of trucks on their way from Dholpur-based Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Ltd to Sagar`s Ganesh Visfotak Magazine (place for storing explosive material), about a fortnight ago, a police team was constituted to probe the matter.

However, the police is still groping in the dark and there has been no headway in the probe.

The police team collected vital information from Biora (MP), Bhilwara and Dholpur (Rajasthan), Rajkot (Gujarat) and Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) during the probe.

On the basis of documents seized, police came to know that like Sagar, 103 trucks loaded with explosives also went missing on their way to Ashok Nagar`s Sangam Visfotak Magazine.

These magazines deal in the sale-purchase of explosives for mining purposes. However, Ashok Nagar Police have been informed about the development.
Police said they had no clue about the whereabouts of this huge quantity of explosive material or whether it has landed into the hands of anti-national forces.

So far, eight persons had been named as accused in the missing explosives case. Among them two, Rajendra Choube and Gopal Shakyawar, were arrested by police.
Police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of four main accused in the case -- Biora-based licence holder Deepa Heda, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra)-based Ajay Explosives owner Shivcharan Heda, Udaipur`s explosive trader Jaikishan Aswani and Sagar`s Ganesh Visfotak owner Devendra Singh Thakur.

Meanwhile, Nagpur-based Chief Explosive Controller has cancelled the licence of 18 magazines and 17 vehicles meant for transporting explosives.
