Allahabad: Minutes after the announcement of the Ayodhya verdict, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Thursday expressed its dissatisfaction with the decision of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad HC and decided to approach the Supreme Court.

Speaking at the media gathering after the verdict, advocate for AIMPLB Zafaryab Jilani said, “No public resentment over the judgement is required over the verdict as AIMPLB has decided to move Supreme Court against it.”

Jilani added that, “The decision should not be a reason for disappointment. We hope that people will maintain peace and tranquillity and the matter should not be taken to the streets.”

He also said, “Two judges agreed that it was a mosque where namaz was being offered and the dispute is only about its construction date. This is why the court has handed one-third of the land to Waqf Board.”

Replying to a question about moving to SC, Jilani said, “We have decided to move the Supreme Court but we are not in a hurry. It is a 8,500 page judgement and we will take time to read it and prepare the case. We will talk to Supreme Court lawyers before appealing in the Supreme Court.”

Rejecting the Allahabad HC verdict, Jilani said, “We don’t agree to one-third formula given by the High Court and that is why we are moving to Supreme Court. We appeal for the complete decree.”

“SC’s verdict will be completely acceptable to us”, he added.

Regarding an out of court solution, Jilani said, “We are open for talks to anyone if a proposal comes but we will not accept surrender proposal as AIMPLB has already rejected it.”

Delhi Jama Masjid’s imam Bukhari also said that they will approach the apex court on the judgment.

Deoband seminary to study Ayodhya ruling

Darool Uloom Deoband, a leading Muslim seminary based in Uttar Pradesh, Thursday said its top clerics would study the Allahabad High Court judgment on the disputed Ayodhya site in detail before it expressed its views.

"We will sit, may be tomorrow, to study the court ruling before commenting on it. It is a sensitive issue and any comment in haste would be improper," Maulana Abdul Khaliq Sambali of the seminary told agency.

Sambali said the Darul Uloom office has closed for the day and clerics, teachers and officer bearers of the seminary would be meeting "most probably" Friday before "we react to the judgment".

However, the teacher of the seminary said the Darul Uloom requested Muslims to maintain peace and order and "not react hastily and angrily".

I welcome court decision, says oldest litigant

Mohammed Hashim Ansari, 90, the oldest litigant in the Ayodhya land dispute Thursday welcomed the high court verdict in favour of a temple and said a final decision on it will be taken by the Sunni Wakf Board.

"I welcome the court decision. I appeal to all Muslims in the country not to get upset over the decision as our fight has now become tough," said Ansari.

The three-judge Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ruled in favour of a temple at the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi site in Ayodhya.

about the allahabad high court judgement, all should realise that india is a hindu country and the wishes of hindus will be predominant in any or all matters. the court has no choice but to respect majority sentiments and deliver its judgement accordingly. if you are an indian citizen you have but to follow what the court of law says. period!

@azad kashmiri...

first of all...if u r an inhibitant of the indian territory of kashmir...u r azad without being mentioned...but i don`t see a sense of writing `indian occupied kashmir`...coz i won`t write indian occupied delhi or indian occupied haryana or punjaab..
brother..to be very frank..i smell anti national intentions in those words...n with due respect...if u still don`t think u r n indian...plz leave this discussion right away coz ayodhya belongs to india n only true indians (including my hindu n muslim brothers) have a right to participate in the decision of this land...not a pro-pakistani.

not all facts are known by all of us.some of the ``so said facts`` considered in the decision taken by the high court are the ones which were not witnessed by anyone and were before independence when the constitution was not formed. the demolition of a historical monument like ``babri masjid`` is an incident that has taken place in this generation and has been witnessed by most of us. in fact the by the judges as well. thre are no witnesses for the demolition of ram mandir and over the change of dynasty`s {mughals, britisher`s,portugeses etc} various historical , traditional, infrastructral, economical changes have taken place. however considering these historical scripts which are mostly non evedential[with no strong proofs] i am sure the court or the government should not be or cannot reverse the changes that have taken place over the past.
hence my opinion as a ``democratic citizen of india`` about the decision of high court is not justifiable and is probably a decision taken in the intrest of public peace but is not a decision which proves democratic constitutional justice.

@ ajaz kashmiri,
how you can say that this is not the birth place of lord ram. there has been archeological proof. about the date of birth of rama ok i will give you first you give me the date of birth of your great grand father of great grand father. he was born much before you ancestors landed on kashmir. and i know you are from pok.

about wakf board it is the board which had once claimed that tajmahal as their property. they have not anything better for the muslims they only played with sentiments of them. when the litigant has no regrets, why they are ?

babri masjid itself was a symbol of religious intolerance because it was build after breaking the temple. proof are the epics, the archeological survey and medieval scriptures. in the medieval period there was so many structures built after demolishing ancient worship places. but people talk of only ram temple because it is the place of lord ram who is an avtar of god.

my dear muslim friend its not about proving that lord ram born at that place or not its about faith and believes millions of hindus because when it comes to prove any religious believes on judicial basis i think any religion is unable to prove any because religions are not build on proof it builds on faith and believes because when it comes to to prove we cat not prove god or allah because we don`t have any the only thing we have to believe this is faith so if we want to bring piece in the world we have to respect the believes of other religions and
communities also as we respect our`s because if we don`t we are entering in endless discussion and fight which has no end if we want to bring peace and change we have think and react differently otherwise we are fighting for religions and believes in past and we keep on doing this in future
