NSUI's win in PU polls to reflect in DU elections: Congress MP

The success of Congress' students wing NSUI in the Panjab University Students Council elections will be reflected in the upcoming Delhi University polls as well as the Haryana Assembly elections, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Saturday said.

New Delhi: The success of Congress' students wing NSUI in the Panjab University Students Council elections will be reflected in the upcoming Delhi University polls as well as the Haryana Assembly elections, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Saturday said.

Hooda, who took keen interest in the Panjab University students polls and is now campaigning for NSUI for the Delhi University Students Union elections slated on September 12, said the success of NSUI is a result of the growing acceptance of Congress thought among the youth of the country.

The Rohtak MP, who is also the Congress' Chief Whip in Lok Sabha, said the polls will have its effect in Haryana too and exuded confidence that the Congress will form the next government in the state, the third one in a row.

After sweeping the PU Students Council polls, the newly- elected student leaders, including two from Haryana, today met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi in the presence of Hooda and sought their blessings.

The NSUI yesterday swept the elections to four office bearers of PU Students Council by bagging the posts of President, Vice President and Secretary. Last year, NSUI had won the post of President and Joint Secretary.

NSUI's Divyanshu Budhiraja polled 2249 votes to get elected as new President, while Snigdha Bawa won the Vice President's post polling 2614 votes and Ankur Sehrawat got the Secretary's post polling 2953 votes.
