Ghaziabad: Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, who were "inconsolable" after being convicted for the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, had dinner late Monday night, Dasna Jail`s Superintendent said on Tuesday.
Lodged in separate cells amid high security, the Talwar couple had earlier refused to have dinner.
However, Vireshraj Sharma, superintendent , Dasna Jail, said on Tuesday the couple had dinner at around 11:30 pm on Monday after they were threatened with action.
The couple neither slept last night nor accepted tea this morning, Sharma added.
Meanwhile, doctors attending on Nupur Talwar said the dentist`s needed three-hour rest in the wake of her high blood pressure. Sharma said she would be taken to court after that.
After the CBI court pronounced its verdict on Monday, the dentist couple were taken into custody and taken to Dasna Jail in a blue police gypsy, escorted by two other vehicles.
They reached the jail at around 4 pm, and looked visibly distressed as they alighted the vehicle.
"As the quantum of punishment is yet to be delivered, they have been kept in separate cells with high security."
"Women police personnel have been deputed for Nupur Talwar," said a senior jail official, who didn`t wish to be named.
According to jail officials, since they have reached the jail, both Rajesh and Nupur Talwar "have been crying and didn`t take dinner".
"We tried to talk to them, but Rajesh and Nupur continued crying and were inconsolable," said the official.
