Ahmedabad: Only six states so far have
submitted the state action plan on climate change to the
Centre, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change said
here on Saturday.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had urged all the states
to submit a state action plan on climate change, detailing on
how they are going to tackle this sensitive issue in all the
"In response to this only six states-New Delhi,
Himachal Pradesh, Uttranchal, Karnataka, Chandigarh and
Haryana-have so far submitted the state action plan on climate
change to Centre," said Adviser to Prime Minister on National
Strategic Knowledge and Missions on Climate Change Srikanta
Pangrahi spoke to reporters, on the sidelines of CII
organised seminar on Urban Infrastructure Development here.
"The states have failed to submit the action plan on
climate change including Gujarat even after of expiry of two
subsequent deadlines of December 31, 2009 and March 31 this
year," Panigrahi said.
"Gujarat, I am glad has set up a special department on
climate change and they shall be summiting this action plan
soon," he said adding, "the State I believe is in an advance
stage of submitting the plan."
