Over 2,000 special train trips this summer

To tackle the summer rush, Northern Railway has decided to run 2,248 special trips till end of June this year, an increase of 12 per cent as compared to last year.

New Delhi: To tackle the summer rush,
Northern Railway has decided to run 2,248 special trips till end of June this year, an increase of 12 per cent as compared to last year.

"In all, 2248 trips have been planned till June 30,"
said a northern Railway spokesperson, adding, the first trip
has started from April 1.

During the previous year Northern Railway had run
1973 trips of summer specials.

This would be in addition to the regular
Mail/Express trains to different destinations, which have also increased as compared to last year.

During 2010-11 Northern Railways added 91 Lakh berths
to the Mail/Express trains which would be available this year
also, the spokesperson said.

The number of trips of regular Mail/Express trains
available this summer would be 1256.
The spokesperson said, arrangements have also been
made to augment trains at short notices witnessing high
waiting list wherever capacity permits.
