New Delhi: Nearly 55,000 posts for reserved
categories of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other
Backward Classes are lying vacant in different departments,
the Lok Sabha was informed today.
"As per information received from various ministries or
departments up to August six, 2010, number of backlog reserved
vacancies of SCs, STs and OBCs were 26,565, 25, 649 and 21,143
respectively, out of which 12,045, 2,799 and 3,876 (total
18,720) respectively have been filled," Minister of State for
Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Prithviraj Chavan
said.
A special recruitment drive was launched on November 19,
2008, to fill up backlog reserved vacancies of these
categories.
