Over 65 houses were gutted and 250 cattle perished in a major fire which broke out in a remote village in Shimla district, officials said here today.

village in Shimla district, officials said here today.

The fire broke out yesterday at Chachawari village in
Rohroo tehsil, about 155 Km from here.
The entire village was reduced to ashes, Shimla DCP Onkar
Sharma said.

Over 65 houses were gutted, 250 cattle perished and 450
people were rendered homeless in the blaze, he said.
However, there was no report of any loss of human life,
Sharma said.

The cause and source of the fire was yet to be
ascertained, the DCP said.
The district administration has provided cash relief to
the victims and construction material would be supplied to
them at highly subsided rates, officials said.
