Jammu: Pakistan has become an epicenter
of global terrorism and has failed to tackle growing extremism
on its own soil, a senior Army officer said on Monday.
"It (Pakistan) is an epicentre of global terrorism, it
is breeding terrorists, it is training them, it is equipping
them and this is still going on," General Officer Commanding
(GOC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen JP Nehra, told a seminar here.
The seminar "Mapping Contemporary Pakistan" was jointly
organised by the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies,
University of Jammu, and the White Knight Corps.
"While Pakistan is an epicentre of the global terror,
it is a key ally of the US on war against terrorism," Lt Gen
"It is a partner in the war to tackle terror in other
countries like Afghanistan but has failed to tackle growing
terror on its own soil."
The senior Army officer said "Pakistan occupies a
unique geo-strategic place in the map of the world and South
Asia. It could have exploited it far more better for its
economy and other things."
