Pak national waiting repatriation after completing sentence

A Pakistani national, who was arrested in 2011 here on charges of staying illegally in the country, is waiting to be repatriated after completing his sentence.

Muzaffarnagar: A Pakistani national, who was arrested in 2011 here on charges of staying illegally in the country, is waiting to be repatriated after completing his sentence.

Mohd Kassim, hailing from Karachi, arrived here in 2009 on a three-month visa. However, he was arrested from his uncle's home on August 08 2011, for living here even after the expiry of his visa term.

Kassim was convicted by a court in May this year and completed his sentence on August 8.

However, he is in police custody in Badin police barrack since then and is awaiting his repatriation to Pakistan, Police Line Inspector Vijay Singh said.

The Muzaffarnagar police has sought permission from the Union Home Ministry to hand him over to his country, Singh said.
