Islamabad: Pakistan`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cancelled the visit of pilgrims` visit to annual gathering of Hazrat Amir Khusro (RA) in New Delhi.

According to the statement issued by the ministry, the visit, scheduled from August 22 to August 29, has been cancelled due to security reasons.

“All the zaireen are, therefore, requested not to move for Lahore as earlier requested by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter Faith Harmony," the statement read.

Pakistan`s decision comes in the wake of heightened tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad due to a number of ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops along the Line of Control and International Border.

Earlier this year, the ministry had also issued a travel warning for the pilgrims planning to travel to Ajmer for the Urs.
