New Delhi: Joining the detractors of the Delhi University`s move to introduce a four-year undergraduate programme, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan today said he will write to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh opposing the move.

"There are around 600 universities in the country. If every university starts making separate rules for itself, then it will result in a chaotic situation in the field of education," Paswan said here.

While almost all universities had been following the 10+2+3 system till graduation, he said, the DU had attempted a different route for which it should have carried widest possible consultations at the national level.

"Such important changes should be made only if a national level consensus is created by discussions at the highest level including Parliament," Paswan said.

Claiming that this move was going to affect the interests of students, Paswan said he will write a letter to the Prime Minister expressing his opposition to the DU`s plan.
