One of the two bombs was found barely half an hour before Goswami`s visit to the site. The first bomb was found near SK Memorial hall, hardly 50 metres from Gandhi Maidan. The bomb was defused by the bomb disposal squad. The second bomb was found in Gandhi Maidan, police officials said. The bomb disposal has defused the bomb. Police, till now, have recovered six live bombs from Gandhi Maidan. 3: 00 pm: BJP leader hits out at Nitish Hiting out at Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that rather than go for condolence meeting of those who died in Gandhi Maidan, the JD (U) chief goes to Rajgir for a party program. Shahnawaz further says that the BJP never said that any party is behind the blasts, but Bihar police was unsuccessful in stopping the terror attack. Making a comparison between last year JD (U) Adhikaar rally and BJP’s recent Hunkar rally, the BJP spokesperson said that despite the bomb explosions the people of Bihar attended our rally. 1: 55 pm: Nitish Kumar condemns Patna blasts Addressing JD(U) party workers, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemned the serial blasts that took place in Patna on Sunday. Nitish says he had directed the police officials to ensure elaborate security arrangements and also ordered Gandhi Maidan to be sanitised ahead of BJP’s ‘Hunkar’ rally. 1: 50 pm: Terror suspect held at Patna Rly station critical The second terror suspect, Ainul alias Tarique, is admitted at a government hospital after he was found crying in pain at a Patna railway junction toilet after a bomb exploded when he was trying to fix it or fit a timer. Arun Kumar, director of the Patna-based Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences where Ainul is admitted with splinter injuries to his brain, said the injured terror suspect continues to be critical. "With a splinter lodged in in his brain, the chances of his recovery are very poor. He was unconscious and not responding to medication," Kumar said. 1: 20 pm: Union Home Secretary visits Gandhi Maidan Two days after six people were killed and 83 were injured in seven bomb blasts in Patna, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami visits Patna`s Gandhi Maidan. Earlier, Shinde was scheduled to visit Patna today, but cancelled his visit to the city due to non-availability of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. 12: 40 pm: `Govt has maintained a policy of zero tolerance` Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari attempted to downplay the fresh controversy over External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid defending Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde`s presence at a Bollywood event hours after the Patna blasts, saying the Congress-led UPA Government has always maintained a policy of zero tolerance. "On the question of terror, the UPA Government has always maintained a policy of zero tolerance. We believe that any terrorist act wherever it may be committed is something reprehensible and those who are responsible should be tracked down to the last corner of the earth and brought to justice. And in this endeavour, we allow agencies which we have brought up to professional speed over the last ten years to do their work without fear or favour," Tewari told media here. 12: 15 pm: Khurshid loves Chinese food: BJP leader Taking potshots at External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid for defending Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde`s presence at a Bollywood event hours after the Patna blasts, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Azad on Tuesday said UPA ministers are least interested in internal security and give prominence to scams that are taking place. "What else do you expect from Salman Khurshid who loves Chinese food, who wants to live in China? Why should he be interested in what is happening as far as internal security is concerned? He is happy where the Home Minister does `nach gaana` and he likes China," said Azad. 12: 05 pm: ‘Bihar was alerted about possible terror attack’ Centre had sent alert to Bihar about possible terror attack on Narendra Modi`s rally in Patna, says Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. "We always inform the states whenever we have general or specific information regarding possibility of blasts and we had sent alert to Bihar," Shinde told reporters. "We have given inputs about possible attacks during various rallies across the country, asking state police to stay alert," he said. Shinde said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would meet him in Delhi on Wednesday. 11:45 am: Live Bomb found in Patna The Bihar Police on Tuesday found a live bomb in Patna, a day after serial blasts rocked the city. During checks, the city police found a live bomb outside the IG office near Gandhi Maidan, where six of yesterday’s seven blasts took place. Imtiaz, a resident of Ranchi, was arrested from Patna railway junction after a bomb exploded on platform number 10 Sunday morning, ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s rally in Patna. 10: 40 am: Bihar govt writes to Centre Bihar government writes to Centre and asks it to handover the Patna blasts to the National Investigating Agency. 10: 00 am: ‘Blasts mastermind is nephew of JD(U) leader’ Indian Mujahideen operative Tehseen Akhtar, who is allegedly the mastermind of Sunday`s Patna serial blasts that left six dead and over 50 injured, is the nephew of a Janata Dal (United) leader from Bihar, reports claimed. Taki Akhtar is the JD(U) leader in Samastipur district, Bihar. According to a report published in a daily, Taki has always denied any ties with Tehseen. 9: 30 am: Spotlight on Seethiyo village Reports say that the four suspects Mohammad Imtiaz Ansari, Mohammad Tarique Ansari, Mohammed Toufiqe Ansari and Mohmmad Noman belong to same village (Seethiyo). The village is just 2 kms away from Ranchi. 8: 50 am: Six FIRs lodged Reports say that six FIRs have been registered at GRP police station against six persons. Thirteen suspects have been arrested and are being interrogated by the Bihar police. 8: 20 am: Home Secretary to visit Patna today Instead of Shinde, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami and other senior officials will visit Patna today and take stock of the situation there. 8: 15 am: Shinde not visiting Patna Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who is under Opposition fire for attending a Bollywood music function soon after the serial blasts in Patna, has cancelled his visit to the city due to non-availability of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Chief Minister is expected to travel to Delhi on Wednesday when he and the Home Minister will meet and review the law and order situation in Bihar in the wake of multiple blasts in Patna on Sunday that have so far claimed six lives. Shinde had on Sunday attended the music launch of film `Rajjo` starring Kangana Ranaut in Mumbai, a few hours after serial blasts rocked a rally in Patna which was attended by BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Tahseen Akhtar - The mastermind? The toll in the serial blasts in the Bihar capital went up to six following the death of a bomber who was seriously injured in an explosion while setting up a bomb. Tahseen Akhtar, allegedly a member of Indian Mujahideen (IM), is the brain behind the string of explosions in Patna. Tahseen Akhtar, considered to be close to Yasin Bhatkal, the man who co-founded Indian Mujahideen, hails from a village in Samastipur, about 100 kms from Patna.
