Indore: A petition was Monday filed in a local
court against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev seeking his trial in a
defamation case for "insulting" Congress President Sonia
Gandhi.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Sameer Kulshrestha
will hear the petition against Ramdev, moved by an 80-year-old
freedom fighter Ramkishore Pandey, on June 10.

JMFC has issued summon to the editor of a local Hindi
newspaper, which carried the news item, to be present in the
court as witness.

The petitioner`s counsel Shailendra Dwivedi said that his
client has moved the court on the basis of a report published
in the newspaper.

Citing the newspaper report, he said that Ramdev, in
December, had used "insulting words" against Sonia and the
Gandhi family at Arariya in Bihar.

Dwivedi said that Pandey holds the Gandhi family in high
esteem and his feelings have been hurt with Ramdev`s remarks.
