that the process for converting itself into the systems reform
commission has been kicked off.
"Converting the Plan Panel into system reforms commission
is an ongoing process...we have started that," Planning
Commission Member Arun Maira told reporters at a CII
Maira said, "The Planning Commission should be helping
the country foresee things that are likely to happen. It
should be able to project scenarios of what the country can be
and those scenarios can then inform actions by policy makers
as well as the private sector."
He said that converting the panel into the systems reform
commission would enable it to "engage with a wider audience in

converting the Plan Panel into the systems reforms commission.
These include bringing about economic growth and a sustainable
environment, involving more people in inclusive growth, and
addressing issues related to governance.
When asked to comment on the time frame for restructuring
the panel into the systems reforms commission, he said, "It is
an ongoing process."
